  • Our March Member of the Month @yukiminakawa ⁣ Name: Yuki Minakawa ⁣ Age: 45 ⁣ Hometown: Brasilia, Brazil ⁣ Occupation: Beverage and service director at Sushi Ginza Onodera ⁣ ⁣ I joined NYO in June 2018, so this year will be my second season. My friend in Brasilia, Brazil paddled many years and she introduced it to me in October of 2017. When I left Brasilia after my visit, she told me to try to do it here in NYC. I contacted NYO right away and heard back in May when in Brazil. I did the first available novice session right after I got back. I was so excited to become a member and went to a practice right after. Even for long distances I went without knowing how it would be. I loved it and I haven’t stopped! Unfortunately my work does not let me join every practice because of the hours since I work at night. But on my days off I go even if it’s sunny or raining! ⁣ ⁣ Favorite bar in NYC: Decibel (sake!) ⁣ ⁣ Favorite restaurant in NYC: Le Bernardin⁣ ⁣ Hidden talent: I cook well. I make hand creams. I’m an expert in sake! ⁣ ⁣ Favorite post-paddle meal: a nice brunch with eggs! No bacon please. A nice grilled salmon... I remember in my first long distance we went to Red Hook and had such a tasty seafood meal. Unforgettable to me 😊 ⁣ ⁣ Where we most likely will find you when you’re not paddling:⁣ Working, fortunately or unfortunately, I’m not sure yet!
