Training: Core OC
Core OC is focused on development of advanced skills on the water. The practice accommodates men and women who want to continue to develop advanced paddling skills through recreational practices.
Intro to advanced techniques include steering, rigging, huli drills, water changes, how to read the water, etc. Practices will focus on skill and conditioning with the potential for everyone to be “race-ready” and fit enough to act as alternates for race crews if one so desires.
There will also be long-distance recreational Expedition Paddles designed to apply what we learn in practice. These long paddles in our waterways allow us to more closely explore the areas we paddle in.
Expedition paddles are long paddles ranging from 1-day 12-mile trips to multi-day distance paddles with overnight stays. They are designed for Core OC paddlers to put their skills and conditioning into practice as well as explore the areas we paddle in without the pressure of being in a race.
These paddles have included 20-mile round trip to Spuyten Duyvil, 30-mile circumnavigation of Manhattan and 2-day 46 mile round trip paddle and camping in Sandy Hook, NJ.
